Pubic Hair Waxing – Do-it-Yourself Tips

When it comes to removing pubic hair, pubic hair waxing has become more and more popular, especially for women. While many women are actually going to salons to have the waxing done, there are do it yourself kits that can be used to wax away your pubic hair as well. However, if you do decide to do your waxing at home, you should do it extremely carefully to avoid causing any irritation or problems. The following are some do it yourself tips that will help you get the best wax possible at home.

Tip #1 – Don’t Shower Before Waxing – First of all, when it comes to pubic hair waxing, you want to avoid showering before you begin the waxing. While showering is great before shaving, when you are waxing you do not want the hair to become soft and pliable. Hair that is tougher will be easier to pull off when you are waxing, so skip the shower and just cleanse the area and dry well before you begin waxing.

Tip #2 – Test on a Small Area of Skin – You will also want to be sure that you test the wax on a small area of skin before you begin the pubic hair waxing. This is to ensure that the wax does not cause a bad reaction on your skin that will be very painful. Some people have very sensitive skin, so be sure to test it first before applying it all over the entire area.

Tip #3 – Be Sure Hair is 1/8 inch Long or Longer – Trying to wax when your hair is too short can lead to disaster. You will want to be sure that the hair on your pubic area is at least 1/8 inch long before you try to wax. Otherwise it will not be long enough for the wax strips to grab hold of and remove.

Tip #4 – Avoid Overheating the Wax – Usually the home kits for pubic hair waxing have wax that has to be heated up. Be sure that you take care when heating up the wax. You want to be sure that you do not overheat the wax, which could lead to you burning your sensitive skin. Make sure the wax is at a comfortable temperature before applying.

Tip #5 – Clean Skin After Waxing – After you finish the pubic hair waxing, be sure that you again clean the skin. You want to be sure that you get rid of all the excess wax that may be left on your skin, so cleanse with a soothing soap and warm water.

Tip #6 – Avoid Tight Clothing for 24-48 Hours – For about 24-48 hours, you are going to want to avoid wearing any type of tight clothing around the pubic area. Tight clothing can irritate the skin and may lead to ingrown hairs. If you want to avoid the pain, stick with loose clothing for a day or two.
